Journey of the journey

You'd have to think within the mass quantities of clothing items created, there's little left to explore. Textures, patterns, styles, embellishments etc have been utterly exhausted, yet a new seasons launch is never far from one's credit card. Artistically speaking, the boundaries explored can be endless. Just when you think you're staring at a new concept, the odds are looking back in a reverse clock, someone has already created an aspect of a current garment. I love where the human mind can go though. The depth of creativity can be (at times) well beyond impressive and from an artistic eye, I often say "wow". Utilising space, vs the injection of colours, patterns, cuts and the variety of influences one has over the other can take a simple garment into a crazy new dimension. I think about a suit that recently caught my eye. A simple pinstripe in charcoal and white, pink inner silk pockets and a regular cut. What stood out, what made me want to potentially buy it was the inner tag which had no influence to the outside aesthetic of the garment, but its importance to the outfit was nonetheless needed. A simple silk patch inside the coat with a short story on the suits origin, materials, the craftsman who tailored it was a special touch. An artist can design, create, explore newer/bigger boundaries, they can showcase the next big fashion trend, but I am still connected more to the story than the creation. When I am in my space with a 2B pencil drawing the next garment concept, I am not influenced by what any other individual is currently creating. I am throwing my own lines down in the hope my story, my minds 3am design concepts connect with a community of followers that know who we are as a company and label. I love the fashion industry. I love the folk who work tirelessly on new concepts. I love seeing the new garments pushing into different territory. I love watching new designers grow and develop. I love the hunt in finding something a little different and the garments that make conversation. You won't see us ever conform into a general space. Life is TOO short for boring and boring sucks! So, as we settle into a new world a stitch at a time, life couldn't actually be sweeter.
